Image compressor
Compress and convert JPEG, PNG, or WebP images in your browser. Compare output size, preview quality, and download without uploading your photos.
JPEG, PNG, or WebP; up to 20 MiB and 20 megapixels. Processing stays in this tab.
Re-encoding does not copy the original EXIF metadata. JPEG flattens transparency onto white. Enlargement cannot restore missing detail. Keep your original file; this is not a lossless archival workflow.
The tool redraws the selected image onto a canvas and encodes a new file in your browser. Neither the input nor the output is uploaded or stored in a share link.
The export does not copy original EXIF metadata. Visible personal details in the image are not removed or anonymized.
Consented analytics include only the tool, action, and output format. Filenames, file contents, and private image URLs are not collected.
Do not enter production secrets into any web page unless you are allowed to handle them there. This tool avoids uploads, but your browser, extensions, and device policies still matter.
Good for
Reduce a photographic JPEG or WebP using lower quality.
Convert a PNG screenshot to another supported format.
Inspect whether the new file is actually smaller before downloading.
Not for
Smaller output is not guaranteed; already optimized files can grow.
PNG quality is not adjustable through the browser encoder.
This is not an archival or color-profile-preserving workflow.

Frequently Asked Questions
Does compression change the dimensions?
No. This tool keeps the original pixel dimensions and changes encoding or quality. Use the image resizer when you also need fewer pixels.
Why is the compressed image larger?
Your original may already be well optimized, or the selected format may suit the image poorly. Compare the actual byte counts, try WebP or JPEG, and lower quality. PNG re-encoding does not guarantee a smaller file.
Is JPEG or WebP compression lossless?
The adjustable quality settings are lossy and can remove detail permanently from the output. The input file is not modified. Keep it if you may need to edit or print the image later.
Can PNG quality be adjusted?
No. Browser canvas PNG export is lossless with no quality control. You can export PNG, but choosing a lower quality percentage only affects JPEG or WebP.
Will transparency and camera metadata be preserved?
PNG and WebP support transparency; JPEG uses a white background. Re-encoding does not copy the original EXIF metadata or color profile, so inspect the result when color fidelity or metadata matters.
